This buzzing cultural centre has grown to become a renowned hub for some of our country’s best street art, particularly with the addition of the five-metre tall Hall of Fame along Bali Lane and Ophir Road. Spice up your artsy getaway or day off by soaking up the precinct’s creative charm with these arts and crafts workshops.
Counter-Culture Street Art Workshop

Your inner artist will have a field day with Discova’s Counter-Culture Street Art Workshop at Kampong Gelam (S$89.50 per person). The first hour will see participants drawing inspiration from key locations in the precinct that have been iconic in shaping and birthing local creative expression since the early 2000s. Stops include B Side Records to touch on the influence of music in the street art subculture; and graffiti store Blackbook Studio for a glimpse into the different processes of making art.
Thereafter, head to the Hall of Fame on Bali Lane to learn stenciling and lettering techniques with guidance from an artist before trying your hand at spray-painting. This 2.5-hour workshop also includes refreshments from Blu Jaz Café. You’ll get to bring home your canvas creation afterwards.

Kampong Glam Landscape and Street Photography Workshop
Goblin Photography’s small group street photography course (S$95 per person) plays out amidst nineteenth century Muslim architecture and vibrant urban art and design of the Kampong Gelam precinct. During the three-hour workshop led by a professional photographer, participants will learn specific composition techniques to make the most of the setting - including rule of thirds, frame within frame, leading line (arrows), and perspective. Don’t be shy to show the facilitator your work for tips on exercising your creativity to the fullest and nailing the perfect shot.
