The Gathering

The artist paints a continuation of his murals around Kampong Gelam -- some of which were painted as early as 2010. This latest piece titled ‘The Gathering’ is inspired by ancient civilisations such as the Zapotec people and their community spirit.

The former concept artist and digi-matte painter has credits in feature films such as Transformers and Iron Man, but nothing excites Didier ‘Jaba’ Mathieu more than getting dirty with a mural. With over 25 years of experience and a Master of Fine Arts (2018) from LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore, Jaba references astro-futurism, abstract mathematics, alphabetical constructivism and facial cubism. Not one to rest on his laurels, he continues to participate in numerous graffiti performances and festivals in Asia, Europe, South America and Africa.
